Enrolment at St Benedict's has grown over the last twenty-five years - from 267 boys in 1984 to the 2010 enrolment of 1350 - a growth in excess of 500%!
Over this period of growth, the growth in our ability to provide the best amenities and facilities for our boys has been just as dramatic! Besides all the classrooms needed and specialist rooms, we have built a new Administration Block, new Entrance Foyer, Staffroom & Oratory, Hockey Pavilion, Functions Room & Stage,Tennis Pavilion & Tuck Shop, indoor heated Pool & Gym, Tony Dobson Rugby & Cricket Pavilion & Basil's Restaurant, an entire Junior Preparatory School and, in 2005, the 136-seater Robin Lydall Auditorium and new After School Centre. Besides land for the rugby fields and the site for the new Junior Preparatory School, the St.Benedict's Trust purchased Parnassus Farm in Magaliesburg (250 acres) and Ravens Park in Linbro Park (20 acres).
We have moved rapidly to provide facilities for 1420 boys (620 in the College, 400 in the Prep School and 400 in the Junior Preparatory School). As we move towards our planned maximum enrolment, the process of providing most of the needed facilities is now almost over!
Success has bred success! Increased enrolment in itself has made it possible to finance top-class facilities for our boys! And better facilities have meant an increased demand for places at the school! And increasing overall success in Academics abnd Sporting activities.
There is no doubt that St Benedict's is a school that has been greatly blessed!
