Academics

Fifty-five years of outstanding academic achievement!
Academics

Few schools can compare with St Benedict's and the school's consistently outstanding matric results over very many years.  With its integrated approach towards academics, religion, sport and culture, the College has become increasingly well known for the outstanding calibre of its pupils - not only for their academic and sporting achievements but also for their integrity, dedication and leadership.

St Benedict's follows the S.A. National Curriculum from Reception in Grade R through to Matriculation in Grade.12.  In Grade12, boys write the National Senior Certificate Examination of the Independent Examinations Board. A large percentage of our matriculants also write final examinations in Advance Programme Maths and English.

Recent years have seen the introduction of Dramatic Arts and Music to complement the school's traditional focus on Mathematics, Science and, in more recent years, on Information Technology.

It is in these subject areas that our boys generally excel - and as a result achieve outstanding academic results in the IEB matriculation examinations.  There has been no failure at the matriculation level since 1974, the University Entrance pass rate of our boys is generally of the order of 95% and each year our boys feature on the IEB Commendable and Outstanding Achievers' Lists.!

Boys in Grade 8 and 9 follow a Computer Assisted Design Programme as an introduction to Information Technology at Grade 10 level. Two classes of boys are invited to take Information Technology as a subject in Grades 10, 11 and 12.
