A foundation is being built from Junior Preparatory School all the way to Matric so as to enable the learner to preform to his maximum potential in the final matric examinations and to ensure success at University. It is therefore essential that concepts from previous years are cemented before new concepts that rely on them are introduced.
Compulsory extra lessons to help students with any difficulties in Mathematics.
Optional extra lessons offered weekly if students have a problem in a particular section.
Revision workshops and camps prior to examinations.
Encouraging pupils to take ownership of their own revision programmes by doing past papers.
Encouraging more learners to enrol for the advanced optional maths papers.
Taking part in pilot project to enable learners that are not assured of gaining 50% to do both Core Mathematics and Mathematics Literacy.
Smart board installation in all maths classrooms will be completed for the beginning of 2014.
I-pads and innovative technology are used to enrich the curriculum and inspire learners.
Software such as Geogebra, Autograph and Airserver as well as various apps for the I-pad are already being used.
We are continuously bridging the gap between the various grades by recapping the previous grade and extending concepts to assist the preparation for the subsequent grades.
An in-house textbook has been written for grade 9’s that will cover exactly the content that we require to be covered in 2014. The intention is to develop this innovation to further grades in coming years.
Entry into Maths Olympiad competitions is also encouraged. The school recently received awards for being the school with the most national entries and for ten years of participation.
