MESSAGE FROM THE DEPUTY HEADMASTER
What Will You Sacrifice Today For Your Future Tomorrow?
What are you willing to sacrifice to achieve your goals or to become successful? Many of us sit and wait for success to land in our laps or nicely packaged with a bow on top without doing an iota of work! How is that possible? Many of us may be doing what we call work and putting time and effort into activities that we feel will bring us success, but it isn't happening fast enough. Who or what really determines how soon you realise success?
When I think of sacrifice, I think of giving up something for the greater good, larger benefit, long-term gain or a better result for all.
Depending on the size and depth of your goals or dreams, some success may be short term while others may be long term. Some may be exact; while others, you never know when success will reach your door. As an example, if you decide that success for you is winning that gold...read more.
An Extract from Matthew Kelly’s ‘Rediscover Catholicism’.
You're driving home from work next Monday after a long day. You turn on your radio and you hear a brief report about a small village in India where some people have suddenly died, strangely, of a flu that has never been seen before. It's not influenza, but four people are dead, so the Centers for Disease Control is sending some doctors to India to investigate.
You don't think too much about it — people die every day — but coming home from church the following Sunday you hear another report on the radio, only now they say it's not four people who have died, but thirty thousand, in the back hills of India. Whole villages have been wiped out and experts confirm this flu is a strain that has never been seen before.
By the time you get up Monday morning, it's the lead story. The disease...read more

All boys at St Benedict’s are encouraged and expected to be involved in some form of Community Service and Outreach initiative. The school makes every effort to develop and instil a value of serving others in each of our boy’s hearts.
As members of a Catholic community we have a responsibility to come to the aid of our neighbour. Giving alms to the poor is a witness to fraternal charity: it is also a work of justice pleasing to God... read more.

Due to increased volumes of traffic on the roads, as well as an earlier start to the school day, we have picked up a problem with the school buses collecting the boys in the mornings arriving back at school either as the first bell sounds or shortly after the bell has rung. To alleviate this problem we are, unfortunately, going to have to adjust the pickup times. We will experiment with moving the times 10 minutes earlier than what they are now and see if the situation improves and, if not, we will have to relook at them again. With this in mind the new times from term two will be as follows as follows:
The Edenvale / Modderfontein / Greenstone route will remain unchanged at this stage. We again request that the boys be dropped at the collection point 5 minutes before that time as the buses cannot be delayed.
Thank you for your co-operation in this matter. We apologise sincerely for any inconvenience caused.

NEWS SUBMISSION FORM
Many great St Benedict’s stories go untold and uncelebrated because it is inconvenient and time-consuming for boys, staff and parents to sit down and put pen to paper. In order to make it as easy as possible for you to submit an article, our Marketing Department has created a News Submission Form that makes the process really quick and easy. We invite our boys, staff, parents and alumni to submit your latest news of school events, achievements and awards using the form. The Marketing Department will review your submission and forward it to the relevant forum for publication, be it the press, our weekly newsletters, our Facebook page and other social media platforms or Clamour, our online magazine. Please click here to find the news submission form.
