1st St Benedict's Pack

1st St Benedict's Pack

The 1st St Benedict's Pack, is affiliated to Scouts South Africa. Our District Commissioner is Jean James-Smith, and we fall under the North Rand District (Gauteng). Her contact number is 082 870 2989.

Our Akela, (Pack Scouter) is Alison Odgers, and she is assisted by Sandy Marks. These ladies are in uniform and run the program as dictated by the District and Scouts SA. There are often a few parents assisting them when required.

The parents committee assists the scouters in running the pack.

The meetings are held every Friday from 1.30-3.00pm, on the Junior Prep School fields, and in the Junior Prep hall, should there be rain.

(During the school terms only)

There is a notice board under the Thatch, at the Junior Prep School.

Boys from 7 years may join, they come for a few weeks, and once they are ready to be invested, they are invited to a ceremony, and invested into the pack. They may then wear their uniform.

Billing is done by the school accounts department, as they pay the affiliation fees etc across to Scouts SA on our behalf.

The boys enjoy a busy afternoon learning skills, completing challenges, broadening their exposure and knowledge, all whilst having fun and interacting with their peers. Cubs is also very community aware, so the pack will often be involved in projects such as the Save the Rhino, donating to the Home for Aged etc.

The boys distributed toiletry packs that they collected and packed.
