Coach's Report
From the earliest day, Tennis has been a very popular sport at St Benedict’s. One year after the school’s establishment in 1958, the Oblates had already erected our first Tennis Court. Today, the school has eight, floodlit tennis courts and Tennis is played all year round. We have six College teams (six players per team), eight Under 13 teams (four players per team) and eight Under 11 teams (four players per team).
During the first and third terms the College participates in the Southern Gauteng High Schools’ League,
while the Prep participates in the local east Area League. During the second term, the top eight College players participate in the St Benedict’s/St David’s Marist Inanda Invitational League, while the Prep participates in the Independent Schools’ League.
Tennis at St Benedict’s College is enjoyed by about 200 boys (College and Prep) and caters for players of all abilities. The Master in Charge of Tennis - Nicky Hammann - is a fully Qualified and Registered Professional Tennis Coach and Teacher.
