Coach's Report
Water polo is a new sport that we offer to the Preparatory boys from Grade 5 to Grade 7. We have progressed from 2009 where we were able to have one u/13 water polo team to now this season having enough players to form two u/13 teams as well as two u/11 teams. Each year we have more boys trying out and enjoying the game. The focus of primary school water polo is to give as many boys (Maximum Participation) the opportunity to learn more about the laws and the basics of polo, but most of all to create team bonding and to have fun.
At a primary school level we play festival type systems. This means the teams play friendly games and not competitive games, and play a number of games and schools over a day. To give the boys as much water time as possible. The main focus for the u/13 ‘A’ team for 2011 will be the Invitational St Stithian’s Tournament where the team will be trying to defend their title from last year.
We had a number of boys that attended the Eastern Gauteng Water Polo trials were all the St Benedict’s boys stood out. Well Done Boys.
Yours in Waterpolo
