Biokinetics is defined as the science of movement and the application of exercise in rehabilitative treatment or performance.
Biokinetics is the profession concerned with health promotion, the maintenance of physical abilities as well as rehabilitation of injuries based on scientific principles. A Biokineticist is a clinical exercise specialist who functions within professional alliance to health and medicine, and is recognised by and registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa.
In March 2010, Patrick and Devine Biokineticist cc opened up a practice based in The Ravens Sport Centre at St Benedict's College. The majority of the patients seen are orthopaedic injuries ranging from post-operative exercise prescription to rehabilitation of sports injuries.
We work closely with Physiotherapy St Benedicts in order to return the patient to function and help them return to normal activities as quickly as possible.
Graham Hatch is the resident Biokineticist at Ravens Sport Centre. Graham has qualifications in Btech Sport and Exercise technology (TUT) and Btech Biokinetics (TUT). He is currently completing an MSc (Med) (WITS). Graham's special interests are in orthopaedic rehabilitation; post-surgical rehabilitation; sports medicine and strength and conditioning
