At a special Mass and investiture ceremony held at St Therese Parish on Wednesday, 13 May 2026, Cardinal Stephen Brislin, on behalf of Pope Leo XIV, conferred the Pontifical Equestrian Order of St Gregory the Great on Mr Robin Lydall.

The Order of St Gregory the Great is one of the Holy See’s highest honours bestowed upon lay Catholics and recognises individuals for their exceptional service to the Catholic Church, its institutions and the wider community.

St Benedict’s proudly congratulates Mr Lydall on receiving this distinguished honour. A founding member of the College’s Board of Governors, Mr Lydall served the school with dedication and distinction for 33 years. He continues to support the College community through his ongoing service as a member of the St Benedict’s Trust.

Throughout his years of involvement with the College, Mr Lydall has embodied the values at the heart of the St Benedict’s motto, Veritas in Caritate — Truth in Charity. His unwavering commitment to faith, humility, integrity and service has made a lasting contribution to the life of the College and continues to inspire generations of St Benedict’s boys and Old Boys alike.

The St Benedict’s community joins in celebrating this well-deserved recognition of Mr Lydall’s lifelong commitment to faith, service and Catholic education.
