About St Benedict’s:
St Benedict’s is an Independent Catholic School, which seeks to provide a holistic education for boys through full participation in spiritual, academic, sporting, creative and cultural activities. The Board of Governors invites applications for the following post in the College.
Requirements:
- Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Music or equivalent, Post Graduate Certificate in
Education (PGCE) - Must have 5-7 years’ choral conducting experience in a school environment
- Responsible for all choir activities throughout the school
- Training and conducting junior to senior choir and acapella groups
- Organising, coordinating and conducting rehearsals and performances
- Auditioning and coaching learners on good vocal technique and performance practice
- Supervising all choral music activities in the school
- Leading the hymn singing throughout the school
- Arranging and composing music for boys of different age groups
- Demonstrate an extensive and diverse knowledge of repertoire suitable for various age
groups - Experience in organising concerts and music activities for the school
- Developing learners abilities to perform as soloists, in an ensemble and choir
- Accompany learners and instrumentalists during rehearsals and performances
- Planning and executing all music-related programmes and activities
- Ability to play the piano and other musical instruments
- Inspire and promote a culture of singing in the school
- Encourage multidisciplinary collaborations within the school to develop a holistic
performing arts and culture - Have an understanding that voice is the first instrument and piano a second instrument
technique - Have experience integrating technology into music lessons
- Forming networks that encourage collaboration with other music communities
- Must be professionally SACE Registered
- Be willing to participate in the Catholic Ethos of the School
Skills and attributes:
- Sound knowledge of vocal pedagogy, choral repertoire and music education methods
- Have strong administrative, communication, classroom management and leadership
skills - Ability to work independently and collaborate within a team
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal and organisational skills
- Ability to engage and motive learners with enthusiasm and creativity across various ages
