Boys’ brains and bodies are different from girls’. They develop differently in almost every way: socially, intellectually, physically and spiritually. Boys mature later than girls. They learn at a different pace. They are bursting with energy, fun, laughter, creativity, spontaneity and enjoy taking risks. Boys learn by doing. They are active learners who need to be heard and who respond eagerly to competition and incentives. They are also noisy and disorganised.

At St Benedict’s, the timetable, state-of-the-art facilities and individual lessons are all tailored to suit boys’ learning styles. Boys are strongly influenced by peers and adult role models. They respond with enthusiasm to inspirational leadership. We encourage critical thinking and responsible decision-making in a structured and disciplined environment. We ask boys to collaborate, manage conflict, make responsible decisions, manage time  effectively and find solutions to life’s problems.
