Meet Bethnye Karam, our Head of Religion in the College at St Benedict’s. Bethnye studied Geography at the University of Johannesburg, completed her Honours in Geography and a PGCE, and recently deepened her theological knowledge through a six week Bible scripture course. Her journey into Religious Education was shaped by a close relationship with a Dominican Sister who taught her and her husband Catechism. What began as teaching a few RE classes while working in Geography gradually grew into a leadership role in Ethos and Religious Education. Through this experience, Bethnye developed a deep love for the Catholic faith and a strong desire to nurture both curriculum and community. She now brings that same passion and drive to Bennies.Outside of school, Bethnye enjoys gym and running, as well as spending time with her family. A hidden talent is that she can score cricket and even received colours for it during her school years. She also secretly enjoys playing golf.We are grateful for the faith-filled leadership Bethnye brings to our College and look forward to the continued growth of our Religious Education and ethos under her guidance.#StaffSpotlight #MeetTheTeam #BenniesCommunity #FaithInAction #CatholicEducation #StBenedictsCollege
